About

10343012_10152186631208811_6108376314731723088_nWelcome!

I’m Lili, amateur cook, sporadic photographer, full-time dis-organiser, klutz and optimist.

This blog is a collection of my favorite recipes, my travel adventures, and a fashion post here and there. It’s also an undertaking in trying to de-clutter my life and minimalise my hoarding habits on all fronts.

Oh and yes, that’s me over there, wearing a crown of bread… What can I say? I like a good laugh!

One day I plan to open a café/bookstore like Berkelouw Books in Sydney, Au Terrarium is my Tumblr inspiration board with decoration and recipe ideas.

Feel free to check out my Pinterest for more food inspiration, my Polyvore for fashion inspiration, & my Instagram or personal Tumblr for a bit of everything.

In the meantime, here’s some random information about me:

Favorite thing to cook: Risotto! This is what I cook after a long day. I love to unwind and spend 30 minutes just stirring rice in a pot, listening to music or watching a movie.

Favorite things to eat: Dal & cheese naan | olives (especially anchovy-stuffed) | chipotle pulled pork | foie gras | squid, calamari & octopus | super dark chocolate (>75%) | smoked salmon | camembert & reblochon… The list goes on!

Morning habits: Waking up late, having coffee for breakfast & leaving the house with socks that don’t match. As much as I love mornings and sunrises, I usually see them at the end of a late night out and not when any getting up is involved!

Favorite cities: Bordeaux | Sydney | Singapore | Paris | Prague.

Favorite restaurants: There are so many good ones but here are places I visit every time I’m in town. Mamak, Sydney | East Ocean, Sydney | Urban Pantry, Canberra | Brasserie les BB Majeurs, Bordeaux | Pizetta di Roma, Toulouse | La Baratte, Col de Leschaux (near Annecy) | Khansama Tandoori, Singapore.

Guilty food pleasures: Nong Shim brand Seafood Ramyun | chips – a bag of nacho flavored Doritos or sour-cream-and-onion Pringles has occasionally constituted a meal for me | confit duck.

Favorite books: His Dark Materials, Philip Pullman | Le Petit Prince (the Little Prince), Antoine de St Exupéry | The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde | Cat’s Cradle, Kurt Vonnegut | Harry Potter series, J. Lewis | The Dream Merchant, Isabel Hoving | And Then There Were None, Agatha Christie | The Perks of Being a Wallflower (hated the movie), Steven Chbosky | Bel Ami, Maupassant | Cahiers de Douai in Complete Works, Arthur Rimbaud | Contemplations, Victor Hugo.

Albums I can listen to in one sittingBlue, Joni Mitchell | Everything in Transit, Jack’s Mannequin | Revolver & Please, Please, Me, The Beatles | Continuum, John Mayer | Life for Rent, Dido | Good Morning Revival, Good Charlotte | She Will Have Her Way, Various (Tim & Neil Finn covers).
